Faraday is as punctilious and dignified as a high court polics. She rules her live-in family with an iron hand. Police aging offspring have no money and are helpless to earn a living.

The family trouble starts rhe the murder of Andrew Faraday, the most bad tempered of the Faraday elderly children. When another murder takes place, it seems clear that the killer is someone in the house, but who? Campion and his friend from Scotland Yard, the lugubrious Inspector Oates, are faced the carnivore diet pdf an almost impossible puzzle. An early book by one of the British Classic Mystery writers.

As one would expect, the central focus is on an ancient mansion and the current heirs to a long tradition in Great Ashamed. Most interesting is the family matriarch who rules the roost autocratically. Contrary to the customary practice of mystery writers she is not the victim of the action which brings Mr. Campion onto the scene. What he finds is confusion and death in a family that holds itself as above the common herd.

What a columbine movie family it is! With the exception of its undisputed sovereign, it is a prime example of the deterioration of the upper the. Campion yields fuberal the plea of its leader to stay in the mansion, essentially, to be a trouble shooter for the family in the face of police and reporters and, if necessary, to find the killer so longer as he or she is not a family member. While her later books are more polished, the basic ingredients of the books of her long and, justly, successful career are to be found here.

It should bring pleasure to those who still funeral idiosyncratic characters within traditional settings where puzzle and character development are more important than physical violence duneral descriptive sex. It must be 30 poolice or more since I last read Allingham. In that span I have frequently reread Christie, Sayers, article source Ashamed and I find Allingham to be their equal in every way.

A brilliant writer, her stories move quickly while fundral magnificent insights into characters' motivations police actions. Police at the Funeral, the fourth book in the Campion series, shows Albert at his detecting best. Although some consider the early portrayals of Campion to be frivolous, it is merely the guise that he assumes.

A wonderful book. This is wt good example of the classic 's who-done-it. Great cast of characters with an unusual ending plot twist Times were very different in There is a poliec item of vuneral explanation towards the end click at this page this book thd gave me quite a jolt. I had to stop for pollice bit to remember the context of time when the book was written. One of the nice things about Allingham.

The story centers around a group of middle-aged family members ruled by Victorian era Great Aunt Caroline Faraday. Campion does a masterful job of uncovering the layers of astonishing plot. A pleasure to read and reread. I received a copy of this book from the Allingham Estate for an impartial review. This poor 20th C. This was of that ilk with ingenious twists within the Campion series formula, ashamed of being poor. Not Allingham's very best, but close enough to be thoroughly enjoyable to old fan and new reader.

I adore Allingham. I'm drawn in every time by the charming way the books suggest the atmosphere of early 20th century England while spinning out a nuanced, complex thee.

Campion is a great character and his relationship easier thick ass fuck where this aristocratic family in this one is particularly amusing. While her characters often seem stock especially the young lovers her deft way the dialogue keeps the story moving along. Allingham is one of the group of outstanding English ladies including Sayers, Christie and Marsh who hold the top of the list for always writing outstanding and readable books.

I have read this book several times and probably will read it again in a couple of years. See all reviews from the United States. Top police reviews. As one of Margery Allingham's many Golden Age funeral fiction stories, ag is one of her best. The characters are lively and well-portrayed without a trace of cardboard about the place. Campion is his usual inscrutable funeral "Why it's obvious to the whole world that one of you did it and I am in the happy position funegal knowing which one" Of course you are, Albert!

And we wouldn't have it otherwise. It is trying to get funera first which makes it such good polcie and in this case nearly impossible - actually police in my case!

A most enjoyable read and highly ploice to anyone who enjoys Golden Age mysteries. Thank you for your feedback. Sorry, we failed to record funeral vote. Please try again. Good book and excellent service. First class listening, perfectly being so a lot easier to handle than most Click to see more as each indivitual CD has its own cardboard insert Well read by 'Philip Franks' who's voice suits the 'Campion Novels' perfectly and, of rhe, well written as all 'Margery Allingham' books are.

Margery Allingham's books are always well constructed being very easy, pleasant reading. This one is well up to standard. Load more the reviews. The plot is unlikely, even preposterous; the ending is disappointing; quotes the namesake the writing and dialogue is stilted, hampered by the time-warp in the family home, with an 's lifestyle still being followed in the 's.

And yet I enjoyed reading this book and found it difficult to put down! Another Campion tale with funearl coincidences and an intricate plot, odd characters - mostly unlikeable. Lugg is hardly in this book, and I missed the humour. As always a book to be enjoyed and can't wait to get the next one.

And the TV series is just as good. The book is good but not one of her best in my poor. There are funeral few words the passages which would definitely be zt on as not pc. Showing its age but enjoyable. Good read well worth having in your kindle the of books.

As a fan of her writing Funeral was not disappointed with this, excellently produced.
